Alternative Treatments For Peyronie's Disease
Many people have never heard of Peyronie's Disease (pay-row-neez) and have no idea what it entails and how much damage it can cause.
The fact is that more and more men in the world are being affected by this disease even though it is largely unknown to the general populace.
The main fact is that there is no known cause when it comes to this disease and there is also no known treatment from a medical standpoint.
For the most part this has been a largely ignored disease from the medical community, making it next to impossible to track the exact numbers of those who are suffering from it.
However, it is also known that the disease itself is known as a nightmare to most doctors largely because they have little or no answers to the treatment and other issues that surround this problem.
The main thing around the disease is the fact that it can cause serious pain, leading to erectile dysfunction and eventually impotence. This is due to the fact that erections are extremely painful and with the outcome there is little chance of normal sexual intercourse being played out with the disease being present.
The disease is noted with a band of scar tissue surrounding the penis shaft. This scar tissue, known as plaque, causes a bend or curve in the penis, where the penis is no longer straight. With that comes the pain that is normally associated with the disease because of the fact that the bend or curvature of the penis is not natural and therefore puts strain on the penis.
It should be noted that some curvature of the penis is completely normal and that does not mean that you have this disease. Peyronie's disease is a dramatic curvature of the penis at a large angle, so much so that the head of the penis may point up while the rest of the penis is straight.
This causes a lot of problems throughout the area and can lead to painful urination and so on if it is not treated.
Despite this, the sufferers of this disease are amazed at how little is actually known about the disease and how little treatment options can offer any kind of hope.
There is a chance that the disease can be fixed with surgery. While this is the only accepted medical practice it is known to be largely ineffective in the over all populace of victims.
The fact is that the surgery, just like all penile surgeries leads to more scarring which may amplify the problems associated with this disease. Therefore you will need to talk with your doctor about the side effects before under going any kind of procedure. Some times the disease will go away on its own but this can take years of terrible pain and so on.
The other more common treatment is the use of a traction device. These are most commonly used for the enlargement of the penis, but they have shown that they are highly effective in treating this disease.
